Olympic and world champion wins US trials with second sub-53 with Matt Grevers out-touching Ryan Lochte 53.19 to 53.37 for second spot on squad for Beijing
Omaha, Day 3 finals: Aaron Peirsol (LAST) wins the men's 100 back in 52.89 with Matt Grevers (FORD) out-touching Ryan Lochte (DBS) 53.19 to 53.37 for second spot on US Team. Randall Bal, whose time from semis would have placed him second, was fourth in 53.45 after taking an extra stroke into the wall.

'The way I prepared [helped with the win],"e; said Peirsol. "e;I knew to compete with those guys I had to take it out and hold on as best as I can. Not every 100 hurts like that...I'm glad I pulled it off. Putting your hand on the wall 1st or 2nd is the most important, when you look at Ryan's time he would probably get second or third at the Olympics so getting your hand on the wall is the most important thing.'
